Welcome to the Sprezzatura Studio Blog. The studio and gallery were named after the Italian word “sprezzatura,” which by definition means “to perform a difficult task with grace and a lightness of touch so that it seems to be easy.” This concept is continuously encouraged in the studio, allowing work to be fun and letting the materials dictate part of the process and flow of each piece.
I am Carol Post, artist at Sprezzatura Studio in Bucks County, PA. The gallery is a collective work of art created by me and fellow artist, Robin Phillips. Most of the art is created at the studio and contains layers of venetian plaster colored with dyes. Some work will include acrylics and other specialty paints for added layering and interest.
The detailed process, flow, and malleability of plaster onto the canvas is a perfect example of the word Sprezzatura, and therefore the name of the studio.
Come visit our exquisite studio located in beautiful Bucks County, PA. The building itself is also a work of art, constructed to allow for large paintings to be created and hung for display, as well as to be a beautiful background for the artwork.
We look forward to sharing examples of our work, our process, and notes from the studio in future blogs.
Thanks for reading.
